Pregnancy Chiropractic Care in Winnipeg
Pregnancy changes posture, pelvic stability, and the load on your lower back and hips. Chiropractic is a drug-free way to manage the pain and movement issues that often come with those changes.

Why pregnancy makes you hurt
During pregnancy, your body releases Relaxin, a hormone that loosens ligaments so the pelvis can open during birth. That loosening also means your joints have less stability than usual. Add a shifting center of gravity, increased low-back curve, and the weight of the baby, and common complaints appear: low back pain, hip pain, sciatica, pelvic pain, and round-ligament discomfort.
When to start
Chiropractic care can be modified for every trimester and postpartum. Many patients start in the second trimester when symptoms begin, but earlier care is reasonable if you are already uncomfortable or want to prevent problems.
- First trimester - standard positioning is usually comfortable.
- Second trimester - side-lying positioning may become more comfortable.
- Third trimester - side-lying with pillow support and lower-force adjustments.
- Postpartum - gentle, progressive care while ligaments are still settling after delivery.
How we treat pregnancy patients
Care may include gentle modified adjustments, myofascial release for the low back and hips, pelvic alignment work, targeted exercises, safe stretching, and postpartum support. The plan changes with your trimester, comfort level, and symptoms.
Pregnancy chiropractic FAQs
- Is chiropractic safe during pregnancy?
- Yes, when positioning and technique are modified appropriately. We use lower-force options and supported side-lying positions when needed.
- I am having sciatica pain in my third trimester. What can be done?
- Third-trimester sciatica is common. Side-lying adjustments, soft-tissue work on the glutes and piriformis, and targeted stretches can often bring relief. See our Sciatica page for more.
- When should I start chiropractic care during pregnancy?
- Any time. Many patients start when symptoms appear, but you do not have to wait until pain is severe.
- Can chiropractic help postpartum?
- Yes. The first weeks after delivery are a key time for the pelvis, low back, rib cage, and neck to recover from pregnancy, birth, feeding posture, and carrying the baby.
- Do I need a referral from my OB or midwife?
- No referral is needed to book. If your pregnancy is high-risk or you have specific restrictions, we will work within those recommendations.
